Raid on Dankoff Club

Dankoff Club in Minsk was raided by masked policemen.

TUT.by has received this information from a reader. A witness says the club does not work and policemen are writing down passport data of all visitors.

The reader reports masked men in riot police uniform are standing near and inside the club. One of them took the witness to a man in mufti, who checked his ID and wrote down passport information. The reader was then advised to visit the club “some other time”. The witness say the rest visitors are treated in the same way.

The witness says scores of plainclothes police officers and a riot police van can be seen near the club building.

Journalists called the club owner, a famous Belarusian businessman Yury Dankov. He confirmed his club had been raided, but said it was a routine inspection, similar to those he has met met many times. Dankov supposed it may be an order by competitors of country's oldest entertainment centre.

It is notable that a voice of an announcer at the central railway station was heard during the phone conversation with Yury Dankov.

The press service of Minsk's main police department declined to comment on the incident at Dankoff Club and advised to contact them later for official information.
