Foreign Ministers of Benelux to Visit Ukraine

Foreign ministers of Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg are expected to visit Kyiv on Monday, November 23, where they will discuss the situation in the country and provide reform assistance.

According to Belgian Foreign Minister Didier Reynders, Ukraine is facing serious challenges, and Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg are ready to render necessary assistance to the country, Russian news agency TASS reported.

Foreign Minister of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn underlined the importance of implementing the Minsk agreements for ensuring peace in the east of Ukraine, adding that not only Ukraine, but the whole of Europe, is interested in peace and stability in the region.

It is reported that the parties will also focus on the upcoming referendum in the Netherlands regarding ratification of the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine, as well as the promotion of democratic principles in Ukraine and the strengthening of relations between the parties.

During the visit, foreign ministers of the Benelux states are expected to meet with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin.

The ministers will also meet with civil society representatives and observers from the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission.
