Petras Austrevicius: Russia ignored three factors when starting war against Ukraine

The West was not ready for Russia's aggression, but the Russian Federation made the situation worse for itself.

Europe and NATO were not ready for Russia's aggression against Ukraine. It was said at the 5th National Expert Forum by Petras Austrevicius, a member of the European Parliament, member of the EP's Committee on Foreign Affairs and founder of the Friends of European Ukraine group, LB.ua reports.

According to him, Russia ignored the possibility of three important factors when it began a war against Ukraine.

Firstly, the people of Ukraine united to respond to Russia's aggression and became a real nation.

Austrevicius also said that Europe understood what real solidarity was.

The MEP noted that the Russian aggression against Ukraine became Moscow's message to the West, meaning that “we must stop the expansion of Russia”. Europe understands it, Austrevicius added. The situation now is much better that it was at the beginning, he says.

Austrevicius also called on Ukrainian politicians and diplomats to be active and persuade Europe to present a united front against Russia's aggression.

He also thinks that Ukraine returned to Europe's political map after having been on the political map of Russia for a long time.
