We All Have a Chance
Natallia Radzina

The authority has a fright of its life.

It was, probably, the loudest, the most generous and mercurial spring in my life.

The spring which gave a lot of hope and then took it back for a while, but, finally, we got it back again.

Protests are held worldwide every spring. Of course, revolutions happen in other seasons. But after a long monotonous winter the power awakes in a person.

In Belarus the spring of 2017 was special in terms of cities, indignation level, and discontent of Belarusians. All of the years of dictatorship thousands of brave and active people took the streets despite repressions in order to prove that they could be "called people". This spring their neighbours, relatives, friends who used to blame them and did not support joined rebels.

As the result, the authority has had a fright of its life. Arrests, searches, confiscations and interrogations took the streets. They grabbed everyone on their way ignoring causes of the fire. Every specialist can say that the flame will break out again.

Of course, it will. Everyone has noticed that the authorities are working under the scenario of 2010: KGB prisoners, the same absurd article about "mass riots", the same ways to squash protests through pressure and intimidation.

But the phenomenon of the current situation, as Uladzimir Nyaklyayew noted, is that this time people do not have fear. As for the feelings, I believe the poet. Apart from the fact that people got tired of Lukashenka's 20 years in power, they are not afraid anymore.

I am, of course, a "wrong" journalists, I have always failed to be out of the fight. The thing I regret the most that I was not able to be with people in the squares this spring. I suffered mood swings: euphoria when I was about to pack my bags and leave for Belarus with my passport of a political refugee (one way), and despair, when I realized that it was early for me to come back, because BT TV channel announces that Mikalai Statkevich, Andrei Sannikov, Zmitser Bandarenka and me were "preparing" a coup d'état. There were attempts to poison life here in Warsaw, but the support of normal, honest people, there are a lot of them, could give strength and faith back.

As soon as I saw people leaving prisons and their sentiments, I realized that desperate times would fade away. Energy conservation principle is the fundamental law of nature.

I know that people are ready to arrive from the regions. I see our people have been awakened. We All Have a Chance
