Ambassadors of Only Two European Countries Remain in Minsk

On the morning of October 10, Only the Ambassador of Austria and the Ambassador of Italy remained in Minsk from the ambassadors of the EU countries, informed sources told tut.by. The rest of the European ambassadors have been recalled to their capitals for consultations.

As a reminder, a diplomatic scandal erupted on October 2, when the Belarusian Foreign Ministry demanded that the embassies of Poland and Lithuania in our country reduce the number of diplomats: in the Lithuanian embassy, instead of 25, there should remain 14 diplomats, in the Polish - instead of 50, there should remain 18. Also, the Foreign Ministry of Belarus recommended to recall the ambassadors Lithuania and Poland to their homeland for consultation.

At the same time, the Polish Foreign Minister stated that "in coordination with the European External Action Service and the EU member states, a joint decision was made to withdraw some of the ambassadors accredited in Belarus for consultations." That is, it was not only about the ambassadors of Poland and Lithuania, but also of other EU countries.

Polish Ambassador Artur Michalski and Lithuanian Ambassador Andrius Pulokas left Belarus on October 5. On October 9, the Polish Foreign Ministry complied with the Belarusian side's demand and recalled 32 Polish diplomats.

The ambassadors were also recalled by other European countries.
