New Record: Poland Did Not Let 601 Illegal Immigrants from Belarus in a Day

Lithuanian border guards deployed 84 migrants.

Migrants continue their attempts to illegally enter the European Union from Belarus through Poland and Lithuania. The border services of the two countries reported the latest figures.

Polish border guards reported that they detained 29 migrants: 23 Iraqis, 3 Iranians, 2 Angolans, and a Congolese citizen. Also, 5 foreigners were detained who assisted in crossing the border, including 2 Ukrainians, 2 Syrians, and a citizen of Moldova. In total, 601 attempts of the illegal crossing were recorded on the Belarusian-Polish border on the first day of October.

On the night of Friday to Saturday, Lithuanian border guards did not allow 84 migrants into the country who wanted to cross the border in unauthorized places. According to the Lithuanian border services, there were 93 migrants on Thursday, 54 on Wednesday, 63 on Tuesday, and 17 on Monday, reports Delfi.lt.

On Friday, migrants left Belarus for the Ignalina, Shalchininkai, Varenka, and Lazdijai regions of Lithuania. As in previous days, the majority of migrants - 69 - tried to get to Western Europe. They were not allowed into Lithuania.

During the day, single shots were heard from the Belarusian side, in the Lazdijai region. Shots were also heard near the Druskininkai municipality on the Belarusian side. It is assumed that they fired at a training ground in Belarus.
