Ukrainian TV Channel: Belarusian Workers Go On Nationwide Strike

They have delivered ten demands.

The Belarusian Association of Workers has decided to hold a nationwide strike. The action will begin on November 1 and will last until the demands of the strikers are met.

This was reported by the Ukrainian TV channel 24tv.ua.

The strikers plan to stop production across the country. The workers have ten mandatory demands.

What are the demands of the Belarusian Association of Workers:

A cessation of repression, the release of all political prisoners and those illegally arrested.

Bringing wages, scholarships and pensions in line with the real economic situation in the country.

Commencement of direct negotiations between the authorities and the democratic forces with obligatory participation of the workers' leaders on holding new presidential and parliamentary elections to resolve the political and economic crisis.

The reinstatement of dismissed workers expelled students and guarantees of safe return for all citizens who have left the country because of repression.

A right to operate independent trade unions, including the establishment of new ones.

Exercise of the constitutional right of citizens to freedom of movement.

The right of citizens to protection against COVID-19, including through vaccination with internationally recognised vaccines. Protection of the rights of healthcare professionals.

The implementation of the constitutional right to freedom of expression. Immediate release of all journalists and bloggers.

The normalisation of relations with neighbouring countries. An end to "hybrid" migration.

Favourable conditions for the development of small and medium-sized businesses.

Now the regime is weaker than ever.

The position of Belarusian workers was voiced by Sergey Dylevsky, chairman of the association. He stresses that Lukashenka's regime is weaker than ever before because of the powerful sanctions of the West.

"Let's stop feeding the regime; let's stop going to work! Let's stay at home. It is how we will defend our country, bring law and justice back into it. This is the only way we can protect ourselves and our loved ones from the epidemic that has hit our home," said Dylevsky.

The Belarusian Association of Workers recalls that they are the ones who fill the Belarusian budget with their taxes. "When the machines at MTZ stop working when the miners leave the mines at Belaruskali, when the transport workers do not leave the car parks, everything will come to a logical end," believe the workers' leaders.
