He is now in the KGB detention center in Minsk.

Lawyer Yury Ziankovich has been detained in Moscow. His wife Alena Dzianisavets informed Radio Svaboda about it.

The woman says that her husband went on a business trip to Europe. Russia was one of its destinations. According to her, Ziankovich was literally kidnapped from the hotel in the Russian capital where he was staying.

- I spoke to the manager of the hotel, its employee was the last person to see Yury. According to the manager, she saw from the window how people in civilian clothes rounded up Yury. They said: "We are taking him, he is suspected of terrorism". The hotel employee was at a loss.

Alena says that then a couple of other people went into her husband's room and took his things. Now Yury Ziankovich is in the KGB detention center.

Dzianisavets learned yesterday that her husband had been detained on April 11. On Tuesday, April 13, a state lawyer contacted Alena and asked her to pay for his services to her husband and confirmed that Yury was in Minsk in the KGB detention center.

Lawyer Yury Ziankovich has two citizenships - Belarusian and American. At home Ziankovich was an opposition activist - a member of the BPF. He went to the United States in the mid-2000s. He started to build his legal career there.

As Nasha Niva reported, Ziankovich and his wife Alena Dzianisavets spent summer 2020 in Belarus. For participation in the rally on August 9, Ziankovich was sentenced to 10 days in jail.

We remind that on Tuesday the KGB reported about the detention of Ryhor Kastusiou and Aliaksandr Feduta under "direct suspicion of committing a crime".

Aliaksandr Feduta, like Ziankovich, was detained in Moscow.
