Lukashenka Dismisses Commander Of Air Force, Air Defense Forces

Ihar Holub is a native of Ukrainian Chernihiv.

Major-General Ihar Holub has been relieved of his post as Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus. The corresponding decree #408 was signed on November 18 by Lukashenka, writes zerkalo.io.

Ihar Holub was dismissed from military service to the reserve due to age with the right to wear military uniform and insignia.

Ihar Holub was born on November 19, 1967 in Chernihiv, according to the Defense Ministry. After graduating from the Chernihiv Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots in 1988, he conducted military service as a pilot of the 979th Fighter Aviation Regiment of the 95th Fighter Aviation Division of the 26th Air Army, a pilot, senior pilot of the 378th Separate Attack Aviation Regiment of the 26th Air Force, flight commander, deputy commander, commander of an aviation squadron of the 378th (378th air base), 206th air base (206th assault air base) of the Belarusian Air Force.

After graduating from the Military Academy of Belarus in 2005, he served in the military as deputy commander of the 927th Fighter Air Base of the Northwestern Operational-Tactical Command of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces, commander of the 206th Attack Air Base of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces. On August 17, 2010, he was appointed to the post of Deputy Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces — Chief of Aviation. In 2011 he graduated from the faculty of the General Staff of the educational institution Military Academy of the Republic of Belarus.

Since April 2013 he was Deputy Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus.

By Lukashenka’s Decree #316 dated August 31, 2017, he was appointed Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus.
