Military Expert About Interception Of "Ukrainian" Drone: We Will Consider Belarus As Possible Enemy

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry announced about the interception of a Ukrainian drone on its territory. Military expert from Ukraine Oleg Zhdanov shared his vision of the situation and spoke about the consequences of such provocations for Belarus on the air of the Belsat Studio program.

According to military expert Oleg Zhdanov, the situation with the drone, which was announced by the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, is nothing but a staged provocation on the border with Ukraine.

"Most likely, it's a staged provocation. To see the reaction and to use the airspace for further provocations".

Oleg Zhdanov reckons that such provocations are not primarily aimed at unleashing an armed conflict between Belarus and Ukraine, but at undermining the economic ties between the countries, which is what the Russian authorities are interested in.

"It is clear that relations with the West have already been badly spoiled by the migration crisis; now all that is left is to spoil relations with Ukraine and break our contracts, the economic ties that exist today. And Belarus will be fully dependent on the Russian Federation, and then, finally, Vladimir Putin will make Aliaksandr Lukashenka sign the agreement on creating the union state".

The expert stresses that such provocative actions of the Belarusian authorities to please Moscow could ultimately lead to a real deterioration of relations and the perception of Belarus as a possible enemy, which has not happened so far.

"Judging by what's happening in the republic itself, I think, unfortunately, we'll have to do it. And we will consider Belarus as a probable enemy, work out plans of defensive operations along our northern border correspondingly."
