Poland May Set Ultimatum To IOC If Belarusian Athletes Are Allowed To Participate In The Olympics

Great Britain may also support Warsaw.

Poland and other countries may put forward an ultimatum to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) if a decision is made on the admission of athletes from Russia and Belarus to the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

This was stated by the Minister of Sports of Poland, Kamil Bortniczuk, on the air of Polskie Radio.

“We are taking a number of measures in the international arena, we are talking about the sports ministers of 40 countries who signed appeals in order to create some pressure on the leadership of the International Olympic Committee. I will inform you about the details when there is something to inform about. Because the situation calls for less talk today. The main burden in this matter lies with Poland and the UK.”

Such a scenario (setting an ultimatum — edit.) is quite real, but I would not want Poland to be the only country that would issue such an ultimatum. Here there must be an effective coalition of countries, without which the organization of the Games would not be possible,” said Kamil Bortniczuk.
