The terrorist control center was located on the second basement floor of the hospital.
Under the largest clinic in the Gaza Strip, Al-Shifa, a command post of the terrorist organization Hamas has been identified, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on the American radio station NPR, Deutsche Welle reports.
According to the PM, the Hamas command and control center was discovered by Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers on the second basement floor of the hospital. There were also weapons and bombs there. The terrorists were able to leave the clinic before Israeli soldiers arrived, Netanyahu added.
The Israeli army previously said it discovered command and control towers in Al-Shifa during its deployment. There was also an underground tunnel and a car bomb. The IDF released images of a tunnel and blast-proof doors preventing militants from accessing underground infrastructure.
The bodies of two hostages were found near the hospital
In addition, the bodies of two hostages were found in buildings adjacent to the hospitals — 65-year-old Yehudit Weiss and 19-year-old IDF soldier Noah Marciano. Both were kidnapped on October 7 by Hamas militants.
White House spokesman John Kirby indicated that the United States trusts intelligence about the use of Al-Shifa hospital by Hamas militants. According to Kirby, Palestinian radicals had set up a “command center and possibly storage facility” at the hospital.
The Israel Defense Forces announced the assault on Al-Shifa Hospital on November 15, calling it a “precise and targeted operation.”
