Famous Film Director Leaves Russian Federation And Goes To Fight For Ukraine
Andrei Kavun

The man became a battalion hero.

Andrei Kavun, a famous film director who became famous thanks to Russian films, left the aggressor country at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion and joined the AFU.

Despite the fact that he became famous thanks to the Russian films Kandagar and Piranha Hunt, he condemned the actions of the Russian Federation and returned to Ukraine. The actor Bohdan Benyuk said about him in the project Rizny Lyudy.

"An independent film director, he threw everything away, moved here and went to war. I had no words, when I spoke to him on the phone and then went to his military unit, I made a meeting there and opened it for myself, because in the battalion no one knew what he was doing, and when I showed them a snippet of the film Kandagar and then I said: "Here he is, the director who made it". The colonel came up to him and said: "Why didn't you tell me about this?" And he said: "And how should I tell you that I am a film director, what I came here to serve, I will open these trump cards," Benyuk said.

After that, Kavun called him and said that Bennyuk had made him a hero of the battalion. By the way, thanks to the fact that Benyuk told who Kavun was in civilian life, the director was allowed to film what happened on the front to show it in his films.
