Die Welt: Ukraine Gears Up For New Counteroffensive Using F-16s And Abrams Tanks

A breakthrough to the Crimea is planned.

Ukraine is planning a new counter-offensive by its Armed Forces in 2024. The United States received a weapons wish list from Kyiv, which included F-16 and F-18 fighter jets, Black Hawk and Apache attack helicopters, Abrams tanks, drones, and ammunition.

According to Die Welt, Kyiv plans to conduct a new counter-offensive operation next year. Washington has already received a wish list for weapons to meet these needs.

The article states that these are Black Hawk and Apache attack helicopters, F-16 and F-18 fighters, missile systems, Abrams tanks, drones and ammunition.

The road to the Crimea

Journalists focused on the fact that Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters hold a bridgehead on the left bank of the Dnipro in the Kherson region, and continue to expand it. There are only 60 kilometers to the Crimea. The position could become a launching point towards the peninsula, and fighter jets, helicopters and drones are needed to support the offensive.

It is also emphasized that Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Valery Zaluzhny was not in favor of launching a counteroffensive in the summer, while a quick breakthrough was impossible. The change in strategy was a smart move and helped gain important time.
