Poland Is Ready To Introduce New Sanctions Against Lukashenka's Regime

Political prisoners must be released.

Poland does not exclude the introduction of new sanctions against Belarus. Maciej Wąsik, the Deputy Interior Minister of Poland announced this to pap.pl.

“Poland is a window to the world for Belarus. Let Belarus use this window wisely, it must treat the Polish minority with respect,” Wąsik said. “We are waiting for the Belarusian side to release Andrzej Poczobut.”

Recall that recently Poland expanded the sanctions list of citizens of Belarus, and from June 1, cargo transportation on the border with Belarus for trucks and trailers with Belarusian or Russian registration numbers is suspended.

In February 2023, political prisoner Andrzej Poczobut was sentenced to 8 years in a medium-security penal colony in Hrodna. He was found guilty of "calling for sanctions" and "inciting social hatred". On May 26, the Supreme Court of Belarus upheld the verdict, Poland answered with new sanctions.
