An armed man in military uniform recently attempted to make a hole in one of the spans of the fence on the Belarusian-Polish border: Minister Kamiński calls it a provocation.

“Several years ago there was an attempt to create a large channel of illegal migration throughout the whole European Union. We succeeded in stopping it. This incident is classic proof that people in military uniform, using technical means, are preparing illegal migrants to cross the border,” he said.

The minister added that migration pressure from Belarus continues constantly and is not related to humanitarian refugees. According to him, relatively rich migrants with Belarusian or Russian visas are trying to break into the EU. They give part of their money to the Belarusian authorities, Kaminsky believes.

“They operate at night as a rule, especially in the forest. Very rarely do illegal migrants act alone. They are also mastering their skills and planning - it happens that attempts to cross the border occur on the same day or on the same night at the same time, at a distance of many kilometers, which is preceded by making holes in the fence or with stairs provided by Belarusian services. It is clear that these are coordinated actions,” added Mariusz Kamiński.

According to him, Polish border protection is working effectively. Also, Poland arrested about 500 individual carriers who were coming to the border to pick up migrants. “The Belarusian regime takes money for protection as well as organized international criminal groups,” the minister said.

He also criticized Zielona Granica (“Green Border”) movie by Agnieszka Holland and once again repeated that they are not humanitarian asylum seekers coming from Belarus: “These are not war refugees, these are illegal migrants who want to improve their lives, who are exploited - and they deliberately take advantage of this - Lukashenka’s authoritarian, cruel regime, restricting the freedom of its own people.”

Kamiński also commented on the threats to Poland related to the presence of the Wagner Group in Belarus. In his assessment, the Wagnerites are now very confused after the death of their leader, but they still pose a danger.

“The group continues to operate. The Belarusian regime bears full responsibility for their stay in Belarus. Lukashenka was very enthusiastic about the fact that there would be several thousand Wagnerites in Belarus because they are such “janissaries” of the regime for him,” Minister Kamiński said.
