Russian General On Board And Ukraine's 'Wonder Weapon': New Details Of A-50 Destruction

Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council Danilov told about the brilliant operation of the AFU.

The liquidation of A-50 long-range radar detection aircraft and Il-22 enemy air control centre over the Sea of Azov can be considered the second most important event after the sinking of the cruiser "Moskva", said Secretary of the National Security Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov.

The Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council also reported the destruction of enemy aircraft: "There is preliminary information that one of the generals of the Russian Federation was on board, but this needs to be clarified. If this is the case, they were stationed at the very airfield from which these bombers regularly take off, destroying our children and our infrastructure. However, I would like to stress once again that this information needs to be clarified".

Danilov also commented on the information about what the A-50 and Il-22 aircraft could have hit with.

"I can only say - with what it should be. You can see that we have the capabilities. I cannot emphasise now with what means of defeat it was done. But my conversation with General Lysyuk this morning, I can't say I was impressed or surprised, but it was very satisfying. The operation was prepared in a completely closed mode, it turned out to be successful," he said.

However, the NSDC secretary did not confirm the information that the Russian planes could have been shot down by F-16s handed over to Ukraine.

"It is definitely not F-16s. We have to wait a bit more with the F-16s. You know that the process is underway now, it is not easy, it is complex equipment. Our military is doing everything possible and impossible to master this equipment as quickly as possible. I can say that there are successes and they are very significant," Danilov added.

Earlier, AFU Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhny confirmed the destruction of Russian A-50s and Il-22s in the Azov region. The AFU Commander-in-Chief thanked the Air Force for the perfectly planned and conducted operation in the Azov region.

Later it was reported that the A-50 was destroyed with the crew, and that there were wounded on board the Il-22. The Russian A-50 was shot down and its crew was killed.
