Welt: Ukraine Planning New Offensive After Receiving F-16s

The target is Crimea.

After receiving Western F-16 fighter jets, Ukraine may launch a new offensive, but with a focus on Crimea. This opinion was expressed by Alfred Hackensberger, Die Welt's correspondent on military and crisis zones.

As he reminded, the distance from Krynki (Ukrainian bridgehead on the left bank of Kherson region) to Crimea is only about 60 kilometres.

"With the deployment of F-16 fighter jets, which Norway will deliver in the coming months, Ukraine can move from defence to offensive," the journalist said.

Norway has approved the direct sale of its weapons to Ukraine, breaking from its rule of not supplying arms to countries where there are military conflicts. The change in policy came into effect on January 1, 2024.
