Political Prisoner Ihar Alinevich Is In Kaliadzichy Hospital

He has spent a week there.

Political prisoner and activist of the anarchist movement Ihar Alinevich, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison, has been in a Kaliadzichy Hospital for a week, the Viasna Human Rights Center reports.

The reasons why Alinevich ended up in the hospital from prison are unknown.

In November 2023, it became known that the anarchist spent 20 days in the punishment cell of the Zhodzina prison.

Ihar Alinevich is an activist of the anarchist movement who was detained while crossing the border of Belarus on the night of October 28-29, 2020. He was accused of several charges. As a result, the political prisoner was sentenced to 20 years in a maximum security prison.

Later his punishment was increased and he was transferred to prison in Zhodzina. After this, he was repeatedly placed in a punishment cell. Alinevich went on a hunger strike to shoe his protest.

In 2016, Ihar Alinevich became a laureate of the Charter-97 National Award for the Protection of Human Rights named after Viktar Ivashkevich in the nomination “For Personal Courage.”
