The EU Has Released More Than 4 Billion Euros For Hungary

The funds were frozen due to the Orbán government's policies.

An additional 1.5 trillion forints (approximately 4.12 billion euros) in EU funding has been released for Hungary.

Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar wrote about this on his X account, according to "European Truth".

Specifically, this concerns funding for the Erasmus+ student exchange program.

“Hungarian students can once again study abroad through the Erasmus+ program, and researchers can receive EU funding for research and innovation,” Madyar wrote.

As a reminder, these funds had been blocked by the European Union due to disagreement with the policies of Hungary’s former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. After taking office, Magyar held talks with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to unblock these funds.

The European Commission reportedly presented Magyar with 27 conditions for unblocking the funds for Hungary, including anti-corruption audits and the repeal of decisions made by former Prime Minister Orbán that are considered to violate EU rules.
