Even Russian "war correspondents" are now speaking openly about this.
The Ukrainian “Vivaldi” operation near Lyman could complicate the Russian offensive on Slavyansk. Even Russian military bloggers are already speaking openly about this.
This is reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Citing Russian bloggers, the ISW writes that there are concerns in Russia that “Vivaldi” in the Liman sector will hinder the assault on Slavyansk from the east.

The ISW explains: the operation not only thwarted Russian plans to broadly encircle the Fortress Belt from the direction of Lyman and Dobropillya, but may also complicate the advance on the northern cities within that belt.
On September 30, a Kremlin-linked blogger assessed that the situation for Russian forces is deteriorating not only near Liman but also in the Slavyansk direction. According to him, Ukrainian forces have established a foothold near Dibrova and Ozernoye. They are now attempting to cross the Seversky Donets River and attack Russian positions near Piskunovka and Krivaya Luka from the north.

Another problem for Russia is the Seversky Donets–Donbas Canal. The blogger noted that the situation there is also deteriorating: Ukrainian forces are launching counterattacks near Yurkovka, Malinovka, and Tikhonovka. The Russians are having difficulty consolidating their positions due to challenges crossing the canal.
Russian sources also report Ukrainian counterattacks near Rai-Oleksandrivka. According to them, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are preventing the Russians from advancing as far as Mykolaivka.
Ukrainian military analyst Konstantin Mashovets shares this view. He reported on this on September 28 and 29.
“The elimination of the Russian salient in the Liman area during Operation ‘Vivaldi’ is expected to complicate Russian offensive efforts toward Slavyansk from the east,” the ISW report states.
New Position on the Slavyansk Front
Separately, on October 1, a Ukrainian military official stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are finalizing the establishment of a position on the Slavyansk front. According to him, it could serve as the basis for an upcoming major operation.
The ISW notes that it is unknown exactly where this position is being established. It is also unclear whether it is related to the Russian concerns reported by bloggers.
