Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Pillay Made A Joke At Trump's Expense

Human rights activist Navanethem Pillay, , who was named the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize laureate , joked that she might share the award with U.S. President Donald Trump if the audience continued to applaud. This was reported on October 9.

“If you clap a little more, maybe I’ll share this award with Trump,” Pillay said.

A video showing the human rights activist’s reaction to the award was posted on social media platform X by Amnesty International Secretary General Agnès Callamard. The video was recorded during Pillay’s visit to Nuremberg.

It’s worth noting that U.S. President Donald Trump became the subject of memes on social media after failing to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Users on X are posting humorous content mocking the American leader’s desire to receive the award.

On October 9, the Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded Pillay the Peace Prize for her efforts to promote peace and international law. From 2008 to 2014, she served as the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and served as a judge at the International Criminal Court and headed the UN Commission of Inquiry on events in the occupied Palestinian territory.
