Ukraine said the move was a "game changer".

Sweden has arrested the cargo ship Caffa, which was intercepted in early March in the Baltic Sea, the local prosecutor's office announced.

According to TV4, it was anchored off the coast of Trelleborg the entire time. Following the arrest decision, law enforcement officials are considering a request for legal assistance from another state regarding an alleged crime related to the Caffa. The transfer of the vessel to another state is possible, the report said.

The Marinetraffic service indicates that the Caffa is flying the flag of Guinea. The Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate believes the transport is involved in stealing grain from Ukraine's occupied territories.

Commenting on the Swedish prosecutor's office's decision, Ukrainian Presidential Commissioner for Sanctions Policy Vladyslav Vlasiuk told RBC-Ukraine that the ship carries grain illegally exported by the aggressor country Russia from occupied Ukrainian territories and it has been confiscated.

He said that the decision on the arrest is an indicative precedent in the application of sanctions.

"This is no longer just a detention, but a transition to practical actions," he said.
