Polish Citizenship Was Granted To 6.5 Thousand Belarusians

Data for 2025.

In 2025, about 19 thousand foreigners will be granted Polish citizenship, 6.5 thousand of which are citizens of Belarus. Such data were presented to the Polish Sejm by representatives of the Polish Interior Ministry, reports Portal Samorzadowy with reference to PAP.

Statistics includes both foreigners recognized as Polish citizens by the decision of voivodes, and those who were granted citizenship by presidential decree.

Belarusians became the second largest group among new citizens of Poland. Citizens of Ukraine are leading in this list - last year about 10 thousand Ukrainians received Polish passports.

Russian citizens are in third place by a large margin - 759 people received Polish citizenship.

It is noted that most often foreigners of Polish origin, who previously had a Pole card, apply for recognition as Polish citizens.

Of the total number of those who received citizenship in 2025, about 5 thousand were minors included in the applications of their parents.

With this background, a political campaign aimed at tightening the conditions for obtaining Polish citizenship continues in Poland.
