The deals involve Boeing airplanes and Nvidia graphics cards.
During his visit to China, the US president said that Beijing will buy 200 Boeing airplanes from the United States. And it also became known that the Americans gave the go-ahead to sell powerful video cards for AI from Nvidia.
It was reported by Reuters.
Despite Trump's statement, Boeing shares fell by 4 percent, because China agreed to buy only 200 airplanes instead of the 500 units expected by the market. Investors had expected a much larger deal.
Reuters sources had earlier reported very different figures. During the preparations for the summit, an order for 500 737 MAX model airliners was discussed. Purchases of large wide-body airplanes were also expected. But the actual volumes were half that.
It is not known when exactly deliveries will begin. There is also no information about specific types of airplanes. The order was supposed to be part of a grand trade truce, the agency notes. It includes a U.S. waiver of tariffs and a steady supply of rare earth elements from China.
In parallel with aviation issues, the fate of the technology market was being decided, according to a Reuters story. The US officially approved the sale of Nvidia chips for ten Chinese companies. The model in question is the H200, the second most powerful for artificial intelligence.
The lists of buyers include the biggest players:
Alibaba;
Tencent;
ByteDance;
JD.com;
Lenovo;
Foxconn.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is personally vying for the Chinese market. At first, he wasn't on the official White House delegation list. But Donald Trump personally invited him to join the trip.
