Trump Spoke About The Help Xi Jinping Offered The U.S. On Iran

The Chinese leader promised not to send military aid to Tehran.

Chinese President Si Jinping has offered the United States assistance in securing shipping through the Strait of Hormuz amid the ongoing conflict over Iran. This Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox News.

The American leader said Xi Jinping is interested in reaching an agreement between Washington and Tehran. "President Xi would like to see a deal happen. And he offered to help, saying: "If there's anything I can do to help, I'd like to help," Trump said.

China is interested in maintaining free shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, through which much of the world's oil supply passes. Trump explained that Beijing has been in contact with Tehran because it purchases large amounts of Iranian oil.

At the same time, Xi Jinping pledged not to supply Iran with military equipment, the American president added. "This is a very serious statement," he concluded.

Trump will be in Beijing until May 15, where he flew for Xi Jinping's talks.
