Kasparov: This Strike On Moscow Is A Warm-up.
Garry Kasparov

Processes may begin that will bring Putin's end closer.

Drone strikes on Moscow could become a serious factor of internal destabilization in Russia, as it is the capital that is perceived as a symbol of the entire country, Russian opposition politician Garry Kasparov believes. In his opinion, the transfer of the war to the territory of Moscow is capable of triggering processes that will bring the beginning of the end of the current regime.

This is the point of view Kasparov expressed on the air of YouTube channel "Free Russia Forum."

"By Ukrainian standards, if you look at what is happening in Kiev and other cities, this strike on Moscow is a warm-up, but the fact that the war came to Moscow simply caused some kind of shock reaction among people. How is it that we are being bombed? It is clear that this creates the very background that Putin fears the most. In Russia, the war against other countries, massacres of Ukrainians, Africans, and Syrians are of little concern to anyone. And why are we being bombed? The claim against the czar-dictator has to do with the fact that the war is not going the way we expected. I think that if this situation persists or worsens, this is the creation of that very critical mass," the politician noted.

Kasparov also drew attention to the economic aspect of what is happening. According to him, Moscow has been the main beneficiary of the war for a long time, as a large-scale shadow system has been formed around it, connected with the circumvention of sanctions and redistribution of financial flows.

"Moscow as a whole was an obvious beneficiary of the war. The war in Ukraine is a very profitable business. It is clear that the huge money that was collected on this war, because the war created a parallel shadow economy (circumvention of sanctions, money laundering), and this is all naturally connected with Moscow, and it turns out that all this is starting to shake now. All in all, the situation has started to change, and this should stress Putin more than anything else. The question arises here, where will this move Putin: to conclude a treaty, or to engage in escalation? For me, the answer is obvious: escalation, of course," he emphasized.
