Kevin Warsh has been sworn in as the new head of the US Federal Reserve (Fed). This is reported by NBC News.
U.S. President Donald Trump said he wants Warsh's independence as the new Fed chief: "I want him to be independent and just do a great job. Don't look at me, don't look at anybody, just do your job and work your conscience."
Kevin Warsh's nomination to become Fed chairman was approved by the U.S. Senate on May 13. Fifty-four senators voted in favor.
Worsh was a member of the Fed's Board of Governors from 2006 to 2011. He joined the board at the age of 35, becoming the youngest member of the regulator's leadership at the time.
