How did the debut test go.

SpaceX conducted the first test flight of its updated Starship V3 rocket.

It was reported by CNN.

How the launch went

Starship launched from SpaceX's Texas base, with all 33 Raptor engines firing without problems. The craft entered a suborbital trajectory and deployed 22 mock satellites, two of which were equipped with cameras to take pictures of the heat shield.

There were problems, however: the Super Heavy booster did not perform a full "boost back" burn, which is necessary for a controlled landing. In the craft itself, only five of the six engines fired, preventing it from reaching the correct orbit. Despite this, the trajectory remained within acceptable limits. The engines were not restarted in space.

Only two of the three engines were running during the landing, but re-entry and re-entry went smoothly. SpaceX employees greeted the landing with applause.

What's Next

Starship V3 is capable of launching 150 to 250 tons of cargo into orbit. The cost per launch, according to SpaceX customer financial statements, could be about $90 million - compared to $60 million to $75 million for a Falcon 9 launch with a payload capacity of 22.8 tons. SpaceX plans to use Starship to launch satellites, deep space missions and land NASA astronauts on the moon in 2028.

The launch was preceded by technical difficulties. SpaceX canceled the first attempt to launch Starship V3 on Thursday, with engineers unable to fix last-minute problems before liftoff.
