On the night of May 29, the Yaroslavl region of Russia was attacked by drones. Amid the firings, authorities blocked traffic from the city of Yaroslavl in the direction of Moscow, "Focus" reported.
The governor of the Yaroslavl region, Mikhail Evraev, announced that the highway closures occurred "for security purposes" due to the threat of drone strikes. The Russian official wrote about it in his Telegram channel at around 04:00 hours.
"In order to ensure safety, traffic has been blocked at the exit from Yaroslavl towards Moscow from the intersection of Moskovsky Avenue with the South-Western District," the statement reads.
Evraev also urged residents to refrain from traveling through the said part of the road and the surrounding area, or choose other routes for travel. Russians are asked to wait for alerts about the danger's lifting.
The governor did not release information about the impact of the attack on the region or other details. It was also reported that against the backdrop of the attack, Rosaviation introduced the "Cover" plan at Yaroslavl airport.
The network noted that the very area that the authorities blocked in Yaroslavl is an industrial zone, and a large oil refinery is located on its territory.
