Officials have been banned from wearing wristwatches to meetings with the Kremlin boss.
The Federal Security Service (FSO) has tightened the requirements for people meeting with Putin. Now, according to the telegram channel "We can explain", officials are forbidden to wear wristwatches while meeting with the Russian president.
"Phones have not been allowed for a long time, now watches - both electronic and mechanical - have been added to these requirements," a source told journalists.
He said the new requirements became effective "around mid-April." Journalists studied footage of Putin's meetings with Russian officials and found that the officials were indeed not wearing watches.
And those who usually do not appear without them either in normal life or at public events are not wearing watches at meetings with the Russian ruler.
According to the journalists' source, the new rules do not apply to people with whom Putin is well acquainted. "They are also handing in their phones, but the watch story doesn't concern them - at least not yet. Smaller cohorts are no longer allowed anything," he claims. Thus, the head of Rostec Sergey Chemezov wore a watch at a recent meeting with Putin.
Putin himself began to take off his watch during meetings. However, at a meeting with Chechnya's head Ramzan Kadyrov, the publication notes, Putin probably forgot to take off his watch - in the footage published by the Kremlin press service, he covers his wrist with his hand.
What the new requirements of the FSO are related to, "We Can Explain" does not specify, but recalls the European intelligence report released in early May, which said that Putin fears an assassination attempt and has sharply increased security measures.
