There is a major fire and heavy smoke at the site.

The Tula Region in Russia came under drone fire, resulting in the Azot chemical plant was hit, causing a fire to break out at the facility.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine citing OSINT channels on Telegram.

It should be noted that at 12:30 a.m. on June 14, a warning about a drone threat in the region appeared on the official Telegram page of the governor of the Tula Region Dmitry Milyaev.

“Dear residents of the Tula Region! A UAV attack threat has been declared in the region. Please remain calm. The single emergency number is 112,” the official wrote.

Shortly after 2 a.m., OSINT channels began publishing videos from eyewitnesses who captured the drones flying overhead and the moment of the explosions on the factory grounds. In addition to the massive fire at Azot that broke out after the strike, the video also captured the intense reaction of Russians at the moment of the strike—fear accompanied by profanity.

It should be noted that footage taken from a great distance from the chemical plant in Novomoskovsk clearly shows a massive fire and heavy smoke, indicating a severe blaze.

In addition to the chemical plant, drones also struck railway infrastructure in the Smolensk region of the Russian Federation, in the city of Vyazma, as also reported by OSINT channels.

What is known about Novomoskovsk’s “Azot”

According to information on the company’s official website, “Azot” is Russia’s largest producer of ammonia and nitrogen fertilizers. The company is also considered one of the industry leaders in terms of production volume and product range.

Novomoskovsk Azot manufactures products, including those for military purposes. Earlier, Andriy Kovalenko, head of the National Security and Defense Council’s Center for Countering Disinformation , stated that the ammonium nitrate produced there is used as a component in the manufacture of explosives. The methanol produced by the plant can serve as a raw material for fuel production, such as components for rocket fuel.

The argon from the plant is used in metallurgy, specifically for welding and heat treatment of metals for the defense industry.
