Keir Starmer gave the order personally.
Early in the morning on June 14, the British Navy intercepted a tanker belonging to Russia’s “shadow fleet”, which is subject to sanctions. This occurred as the vessel attempted to pass through the English Channel. This was reported by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Few details of the operation are available so far. It is known that the order to seize the Russian vessel was given personally by the prime minister. The ship has been successfully detained.
“This successful operation deals another blow to Russia. It also serves as a reminder to those who are waging war against Ukraine that we will not let them hide,” Starmer noted.
In the early hours of this morning, I directed our Armed Forces to intercept a shadow fleet oil tanker attempting to pass through the English Channel.
This successful operation delivers yet another blow to Russia and reminds those fueling Putin's war in Ukraine that we will not…

He also thanked the military and other law enforcement agencies that participated in intercepting the Russian vessel.
In April, it became known that Russian oil tankers were passing through the English Channel escorted by the warship Admiral Grigorovich.
