"It's going to be fantastic."
The latest "Katran" marine drone has been mentioned repeatedly recently. Ukraine has already used it in various operations.
Aviation expert Konstantin Krivolap told “Channel 24” that “Katran” is a family of unmanned boats capable of performing a wide variety of functions. There have already been reports that Ukraine plans to intercept Russian vessels subject to sanctions using these drones.
According to Kryvolap, there are various modifications of the “Katran” maritime drones. Each performs its own specific functions. And they are fully capable of participating together in various maritime operations.
For example, the “Katran X1” carries FPV drones that can strike the enemy on the spot. The “Katran X2” is equipped with a machine-gun turret. There is also the “Katran Venom,” equipped with torpedoes, machine guns, and even MANPADS, which attack aerial targets.
- Hypothetically, several such drones approach a vessel subject to sanctions. They are then ordered to proceed to a Ukrainian port for detention. Meanwhile, the vessel’s escape routes will be blocked. And a torpedo could even strike the vessel. If several such interception operations are carried out, it will effectively open up new possibilities for seizing ships. That would be fantastic,” said Kryvolap.
