"Test" flights could begin as early as this summer.
Test flights of Ukrainian ballistic missiles in the direction of Moscow may begin as early as this summer or early fall. This will happen after successful engine tests and the first test launch.
This was announced by Fire Point co-founder Denis Shtilerman in interview with journalist Alesa Batzman.
He said that the company planned to produce and cast large engines at a factory in Denmark, but this did not happen after the publication of information about the project. At the same time, a facility for this work is being built in Ukraine.
Stilerman said that the bodies, control systems and other components are already ready for the rocket, which can fly to Moscow. For now, it was left to test the engine.
"We will test the engine this month and I expect to start test flights in the near future," he said.
Stilerman added that after the first successful launch, the next test flights could be carried out already to Moscow.
"I expect that this summer, at most early fall, we will start test flights to Moscow," the Fire Point co-founder said.
He also noted that the company is immediately preparing mass production and is not limited to a few prototypes. He said it plans to produce 10 to 20 test missiles for launches, and after codification and procurement their production could grow to dozens of units.
Commenting on possible targets for strikes, Stilerman said the military is in charge of that. At the same time, he suggested that Ukraine could strike "key iconic targets" in Moscow as one option to deter Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure.
