The first operation of its kind in history.
The 1st Separate Center of the AFU's Unmanned Systems Force said it took fire control of Donetsk airport. The military reported the results of the operation on Friday, stressing that it was the first time in modern history that an operation of this type had been carried out.
The 1st Separate Center of BPS SBS said in its (Facebook feed https://www.facebook.com/reel/1506583847537925/). The unit noted that the occupiers have turned Donetsk airport into one of the key elements of their military logistics.
"Our unit systematically burns out the enemy infrastructure, making it impossible for the airfield to function," the statement said.
The fighters said Russian forces used the airport territory as a military logistical hub and a launching ground for Shahed-type attack drones. Ukrainian drone operators hit the infrastructure of the facility and hampered its further functioning.
The unit said that attack drone operators destroy launchers, vehicles and enemy personnel directly on the territory of the airport. At the same time, work is being carried out against mobile fire groups and air defenses.
The military says that because of such actions, Russian forces are forced to cancel sorties. Engineering equipment, fuel tankers and logistics hubs are also under attack.

"Our strike drone operators are destroying launchers, transport vehicles and eliminating calculations directly on the runway. In parallel, we conduct a systematic hunt for mobile fire groups and enemy air defense, which forces the enemy to cancel sorties," the 1st SBS OC said.
Result of the operation
The military said among the targets hit are Shahed launching installations, construction cranes, vehicles and property depots. The unit believes that this allows for the gradual destruction of the entire airfield support system.
The officer in charge of planning the operation, officer of the 1st Separate SBS Center (14th Regiment) Seraphim "Falco" Gordienko, called the operation an example of asymmetric actions.
"The fire control of the DAP, which was carried out by 1 OC, is an example of an asymmetric operation in which exceptionally small forces disrupted the enemy's operational and strategic plans. This is what makes us - us," he said.
The unit also said that previously the Russian military felt relatively safe at the airport and used it to prepare attacks on Ukrainian cities.
"From now on we have turned Donetsk airport into a trap for the enemy. There is no safe rear for the occupants. It is impossible to hide and defend oneself," the military noted.
