Ukrainian Forces Attacked A Drone Manufacturing Facility At An Airfield Near Ryazan

Video.

On June 8, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the Protasovo airfield near Ryazan. A video of the strike was published by the Telegram channel “Spy Dossier.” The footage shows a drone diving toward the target and exploding. Astra geolocated the video and confirmed that it was filmed in Protasovo. There is no information on casualties or the extent of the damage. The Protos Research and Production Center, where drones are manufactured, is located on the airfield grounds. The center began operations in July 2024 and, by early June 2026, had 54 resident companies. The center’s executive director, Anastasia Siginova, cited access to the runway of the operational airfield as a key advantage of the site, noting that this allows drones to be tested under “real-world conditions.” The center’s residents are engaged in the development of the UAVs themselves, as well as components, software, and communication and control systems. In addition, they conduct classes for students to identify and train those who are “inclined to work with drones.”

In March of this year, Protos residents announced their intention to reach a production capacity of 5,000 UAV engines per month by 2027.
