Syrsky Has Stumped The Kremlin With A New Task For The Ukrainian Armed Forces
Alexander Syrsky

We are talking about a missile with a range of up to 2,000 kilometers.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi has approved a development plan for the missile forces and artillery through 2030. The plan calls for phasing out Soviet-era systems and producing domestic missiles.

This was reported by Charter97.org citing Syrsky’s message on Telegram.

“While waging a difficult war today, we must simultaneously build the army of the future. Developing capabilities, introducing new technologies, and preparing for future challenges are no less important than fulfilling current combat missions. This is precisely what our strategic decisions are aimed at,” he emphasized.

According to the commander-in-chief, domestically produced weapons should form the backbone of Ukrainian artillery equipment in the future.

At the same time, worn-out Soviet-caliber artillery systems that cannot be repaired or modernized will gradually be phased out of service.

“It is planned to retain units armed with modern foreign-made artillery systems within the armed forces. In addition, further optimization of the range of artillery weapons is planned,” Syrsky emphasized.

Production of long-range missiles

According to the general, a separate priority of the concept is the development of missile systems for strikes deep into enemy territory. To this end, Ukraine plans to complete the development and begin serial production of domestically produced ballistic and cruise missiles.

“In combination with unmanned systems, this will allow us to create a balanced long-range firepower system and ensure the destruction of targets at distances of up to 2,000 kilometers,” Syrsky noted.

The Role of Artillery and Challenges on the Front Lines

The Commander-in-Chief noted that despite the evolution of tactics and the rapid development of drones and guided bombs, artillery remains an integral element of the battlefield. However, several factors are currently reducing its effectiveness:

critical dependence on supplies from Western partners;

complex logistics due to the large number of different types of systems;
limited range of certain models;
a shortage of artillery reconnaissance assets.

“The effectiveness of artillery directly depends on the quality of reconnaissance and the speed of information transmission. That is precisely why one of the key priorities of the Concept is the creation of a modern artillery reconnaissance system,” emphasized the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Syrsky noted that under any circumstances, the artillery will continue to effectively destroy the enemy and remain one of the main factors in deterring Russian aggression.
