Ukraine And Moldova Are In For A "Super Tuesday"

An important day for both countries.

European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos called July 14 in Brussels “Super Tuesday” in connection with four intergovernmental conferences held simultaneously with candidate countries—including Ukraine and Moldova, which are awaiting the opening of Negotiation Cluster 6.

According to “European Truth”, she made this statement in comments to the media before the events began.

Kos stated that July 14 can be considered “Super Tuesday for Enlargement,” and this is the first time in more than two decades that four intergovernmental conferences with candidate countries—Ukraine, Moldova, Montenegro, and Albania—are taking place on the same day.

“These are our ‘front-runners.’ For Moldova and Ukraine, we will open Cluster 6—covering the external relations of both countries. This also involves cooperation in the field of defense and countering hybrid threats. Both countries will contribute to the European security architecture,” the European Commissioner noted.

She also noted that Montenegro will close a number of negotiation chapters at once, from Chapter 18 to Chapter 33.

As a reminder, on July 10, EU ambassadors agreed to open the sixth negotiation cluster on Ukraine’s accession, “External Relations.” This will be the second negotiation cluster to be opened for Ukraine and Moldova, following the key “Fundamentals” cluster.
