Garry Kasparov: Russia Will Invade A NATO Country Very Soon

It is crucial for the Kremlin leadership to “make it through to January.”

Russian opposition figure Garry Kasparov stated that the risk of Russia crossing NATO’s land border is becoming increasingly likely.

According to him, Moscow may test the Alliance’s readiness to invoke Article 5 on collective defense in the very near future. Kasparov believes that it is important for the Russian leadership to “hold out until January.”

He linked this to the U.S. elections, which will take place in November: the new Congress will not begin its work until early January.

In Kasparov’s view, the period from the second half of September through early January could provide Moscow with a window of opportunity to test NATO’s Article 5.

He claims that not only experts but also official representatives of the Alliance are now discussing the possibility of such a scenario.

Kasparov also stated that the war has become a source of new social momentum for the Russian regime, comparing the current situation to the period following the annexation of Crimea in 2014.

According to him, for a significant portion of Russian society, participation in the war has become a channel for social mobility, despite the high price the country is paying for it. At the same time, Kasparov believes that Russian society has traditionally been insensitive to these losses.
