SpaceX’s Starship rocket aborted its launch less than a second before liftoff during its 13th test flight from the Starbase launch site in Texas, according to Reuters.
According to the company, the launch was aborted because the automatic system activated the booster lockout after the Raptor engines began firing.
SpaceX spokesperson Dan Huot stated that experts will investigate the reasons for the system’s activation and then decide on next steps.
As noted by Reuters, the mission has been postponed for at least 24 hours.
Starship is SpaceX’s large reusable rocket, which is being developed to carry people and cargo to the Moon, Mars, and for other space missions. The project is considered one of the key initiatives in the space program of Elon Musk’s company.
