Why Did Trump Suddenly Change His Attitude Toward Zelenskyy?

The media revealed three reasons.

For several months, Ukrainian authorities and their allies in the U.S. waged a targeted campaign in an attempt to change the attitude of U.S. President Donald Trump and his inner circle toward Ukraine. The Times revealed details of the preparations for a new meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the U.S. president in the Oval Office (translation by Charter97.org).

One of the most notable developments was a trip to Kyiv by American conservative activist Laura Loomer, who had previously repeatedly criticized Ukraine and called it a country “full of Nazis.” After her visit, she publicly retracted her previous statements, saying she had “fallen for Russian propaganda.”

Trump’s reaction drew particular attention. He reposted an excerpt from Lumer’s conversation with the comment “wonderful!!!,” which, according to the publication, gave rise to cautious optimism among Kyiv’s supporters.

The organization “Ukraine Freedom Project,” founded by former Republican Party staffer Stephen Moore, played an important role in the campaign. Its representatives organized trips for American conservative leaders to Ukraine, introducing them to military personnel, volunteers, and representatives of religious communities. The goal was to refute claims about “Nazis” and “persecution of Christians” that were widespread among some MAGA supporters.

Particular emphasis was placed on the religious audience, which has traditionally been close to Trump’s base. One of the key stories was that of Baptist Serhiy Haidarzhi, who was subsequently introduced to House Speaker Mike Johnson. Shortly thereafter, he brought a $60 billion aid package for Ukraine to a vote.

“After past mistakes, Kyiv has adjusted its strategy,” the authors assert. Now Volodymyr Zelenskyy is striving to speak to the American leader in a language that Donald Trump himself will understand, and one of the central themes of the campaign has become a simple message: “Putin is a loser.”

As a reminder, Zelenskyy and Trump will meet at the White House on July 28. The time of their meeting has already been announced.
