On the night of Thursday, July 9, Ukrainian defense forces struck 12 tankers belonging to Russia’s shadow fleet, one tugboat, and one dry cargo ship in the waters of the Sea of Azov. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The occupiers used these vessels, in particular, to supply fuel to Russian military units, as well as to transport oil and petroleum products in circumvention of international sanctions, the statement said.
Defense forces also struck the Yug Rusi oil terminal in Bataysk, Rostov Oblast, causing a fire. According to the General Staff, this facility handles the transshipment of petroleum products for export and is used to supply fuel to Russian troops in the southern sector.
In addition, an enemy ammunition depot in the Sorokino area of the Luhansk region was struck, the General Staff added.
On July 8, the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces reported that nine Russian tankers had been struck in the Sea of Azov.
