Ukrainian intelligence is monitoring the situation in Belarus.
The Belarusian military is not ready to participate in combat operations in Ukraine. This was stated in an interview with “Apostrophe” by Vadym Skibitsky, deputy head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense .
According to him, Lukashenko “understands that Minsk’s direct involvement in the war could spell disaster” for Minsk.
“The Belarusian Armed Forces are not ready for such a war. The documents we’ve obtained show that the inspections conducted by the Belarusian Ministry of Defense and the General Staff clearly point out these shortcomings and indicate that they fall far short of the standard required to wage or participate in a conflict at a decent level,” — Skibitsky noted.
At the same time, the deputy head of the Main Intelligence Directorate believes that Russia could use Belarusian territory to station its armed forces and to enhance the effectiveness of its weapons.
“The Russian Federation could use Belarusian territory even without permission from that country’s leadership. This happened in 2022,” he said.
