A tourist from Bryansk boasted that he had shot an eagle owl—a bird listed in the Red Book—in the Gomel Region of Belarus
He posted the photo on the social network “VKontakte.” The Russian man promised to make a taxidermy specimen out of his “catch.”

The Eurasian eagle owl (Bubo bubo) has been listed in Belarus’s Red Book since 1981 and is classified as Category II for national protection (a species with a declining population). It is the largest nocturnal bird of the owl family in the country, inhabiting remote forests and marshes.
