Explosions rang out at the military airfield, and a fire broke out.
Explosions rocked the Savasleika airfield in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod Region. Social media posts report explosions and a fire at the Russian Armed Forces military airfield.
Eyewitnesses are currently reporting that explosions were heard at the airfield and a fire has broken out. This is being reported by the monitoring channel Exilenova+.
“A drone attack is ongoing at the ‘Savasleika’ airfield, where MiG-31K fighter jets carrying ‘Kinzhal’ aeroballistic missiles are based,” the report states.
At this time, local authorities have not commented on the consequences of the attack or the strikes on the military airfield. According to open sources, the “Savasleika” airfield serves as a base for MiG-31K aircraft, which launch “Kinzhal” aeroballistic missiles into Ukrainian territory.
At the same time, the Ukrainian monitoring channel Strategic Control notes that the Russians scrambled four MiG-31Ks after the attack on the airfield began. The aircraft flew toward Tatarstan, observers note.
“Four MiG-31Ks from the ‘Savasleika’ airfield are heading toward the ‘Begishevo’ airfield. The enemy was frightened by the UAV attack and is moving the aircraft out of the line of fire,” Strategic Control notes.
