At The Progress Rocket And Space Center In Samara, Which Was Attacked, The Workshop Where The "internal Components" For Soyuz Rockets Are Assembled May Have Been Damaged

New information has emerged regarding the consequences of the "Flamingo" strike.

As a result of the nighttime rocket attack on Samara’s industrial zone, Workshop 106A of the (RKC) “Progress,” according to the Ukrainian OSINT project “CyberBoroshno”, citing satellite imagery.

The center, located on the eastern outskirts of the city, is part of Roscosmos and manufactures launch vehicles of the “Soyuz” family, which, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, are being used to deploy the “Rassvet” satellite constellation—a broadband satellite communications system that Moscow positions as an analogue to the American Starlink. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also announced a successful strike on “Progress.” According to him, the attack was carried out using “Flamingo” cruise missiles.

According to “CyberBoroshno,” the facility that may have been targeted is part of the “production complex” for the “Soyuz” launch vehicle and operates under high-cleanliness conditions. This requires special conditions for manufacturing components, including pressure control, microclimate maintenance, and sterility. The facility assembles onboard electrical systems, instruments, and circuit boards that make up the rocket’s “nervous system.” “Without this stage, the rocket cannot be assembled, even when the body and tanks are ready,” analysts write. Adjacent to this complex is Building 106B, where the final assembly of the rockets takes place. The channel does not specify whether this facility was damaged.

Samara’s “Progress” is the only facility engaged in the serial assembly of “Soyuz-2” rockets. Its restoration could take several months, as the fire, soot, and water used to extinguish the blaze in a high-cleanliness facility will require “not just roof repairs, but the recertification of clean areas, recertification of the technical process, and re-testing for dust levels,” notes “KyberBoroshno.” There may also be difficulties in restoring the component base, which relies on imports subject to sanctions.
