Ferrari's First Electric Car Sold At Auction For $40 Million

There is only one car of its kind.

A special-edition Ferrari Luce, the first all-electric Ferrari, was sold at a Sotheby's charity auction in California for $40 million. This was reported by Sotheby's.

According to Bloomberg, this is a record amount for a new car ever sold at auction. The previous record was $26 million—the amount paid last year for a customized Ferrari Daytona SP3.

The sold vehicle, named Chassis 0, was the first car in the Ferrari Luce program and is the only one of its kind. It was created as part of Ferrari’s Tailor Made program in collaboration with LoveFrom, a studio founded by former Apple chief designer Jony Ive.

The four-door car is powered by a powertrain with over 1,000 horsepower. For Ferrari, the model represents a step away from traditional internal combustion engine vehicles.

The body is painted in a semi-matte Madreperla shade developed specifically for the Luce. The pearlescent pigment shifts in appearance from green to purple depending on the lighting. The interior features Swiss Le Mans leather in the color Perla, and certain elements are finished in Grigio Corvara for the first time.

Exclusive wheels, brake calipers, and a Ferrari logo on an optical white background were also created for the car.

All proceeds from the sale will be donated to The Ferrari Foundation for educational projects. The car will be returned to Maranello, and delivery to the buyer is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
