Authorities in Samara confirmed that facilities Progress Rocket and Space Corporation in Samara following a strike on August 15. A large-scale fire broke out on the facility’s grounds, covering an area of approximately 5,000 square meters.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In Samara, several facilities of the Russian rocket and space complex were hit simultaneously following the strike on August 15.
New data has confirmed damage to the production facilities of the “Aviakor – Aviation Plant” and the “Progress” Rocket and Space Center.
What is known about the consequences
According to updated information, the strike hit a production facility where engines for the “Soyuz” family of launch vehicles are assembled, as well as an aircraft maintenance facility.
In addition, a fire covering an area of about 5,000 square meters was reported on the grounds of the Progress Rocket and Space Center.
Why this matters
The Progress Rocket and Space Center is one of the key enterprises in Russia’s rocket and space industry. The company is involved in the production of “Soyuz” launch vehicles, which are used to place spacecraft into orbit and form Russian satellite communications constellations, including for the Russian Armed Forces.
