Lukashenko Will Send 500 "Freeloaders" To The Border With Ukraine

"Negligent farmers" have already been sent to a two-month military training camp.

About 500 Belarusian agricultural workers, whom the country’s authorities deemed to be insubordinate, were sent to a two-month military training camp, according to the propaganda TV channel STV. This order was issued by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko. In July, the usurper’s administration stated that “slackers, workers who have violated rules, good-for-nothings, drunkards, good-for-nothings, and slackers” to the Ministry of Defense to enforce “iron discipline” during the harvest season.

Specialists and machine operators subject to military service are being sent to special operations units, where they undergo firearms, tactical, engineering, and medical training. After training, the participants are scheduled to be deployed to the border with Ukraine to carry out combat training missions. These activities are taking place in all regions of the country. After a week of training, these citizens can learn to operate a grenade launcher and a machine gun and then be placed at the disposal of the special operations forces. “Anyone who can’t hold a job—off to the army and to the southern border. Into the forest. Our guys—the special operations forces—are deployed along the Ukrainian border on my orders,” Lukashenko said.

In June, the Ministry of Defense conducted exercises in the Grodno region, which borders Poland and Lithuania. During the exercises, the mobilization of citizens and transportation was practiced, and the records of several thousand conscripts were verified. In April, Lukashenko stated that in the event of war, Belarus would be able to increase the size of its armed forces and security agencies to 500,000 personnel.

Sources at The Wall Street Journal reported that Vladimir Putin was increasing pressure on Lukashenko, seeking more active participation by Minsk in the conflict. According to the publication, Moscow may be seeking to use Belarusian territory to launch strikes against Ukraine and open a new front in the conflict, and in the event of a refusal, the Kremlin could threaten to cut off financial support.
